6 Configuring the isdn Daemon

The isdnd daemon is responsible for call setup, call retry, timeout recovery and call closing. It communicates with the kernel through the device /dev/i4b.

Before you can communicate with a remote site, you must prepare a configuration file for the daemon which has the name isdnd.rc and which usually resides in the directory /etc/isdn. An example configuration file is provided in the isdn4bsd distribution in the directory etc-isdn.

Caution: do not try to use the example configuration file without customizing it for your site, unpredictable results may occur!
