In this day and age when the need to coëxist with science and technology can no longer be denied, the only questions we can legitimately ask are how best to use these tools and how best to avoid their misuse. If we fail to find effective means of controlling them and retreat instead to the comfort of unthinking emotionalism, if we hamper scientific and technological progress - or, conversely allow them to run out of control - then we should not be surprised to find ourselves extinct in the not-too-distant future... and with us, the planet itself.
