Once we have added new states, we can start to see where we want notifications to go out.
Our current system (and most others) notifies the submitter and assignee when a state change happens.
Jira (and possibly others) has the concept that individuals can "subscribe" to certain bugs. I believe this is necessary but insufficient.
I believe that we will be best served by a system that will allow
developers to subscribe to bugs for certain systems or subsystems:
e.g. "notify me when ata
bugs are accepted",
"notify me when bugs against -current
are
accepted", and so forth.
As far as I can tell, no current system does this by default.
