Server Health Monitoring and Management (hpasm)

The hpasm package includes two components to assist in managing and monitoring your ProLiant server with FreeBSD. There are two versions (one for FreeBSD 4.X and one for FreeBSD 5.X) and they are statically linked to avoid any shared-library compatability issues. The two modules are:

Releases:

Smart-Array Administration Utility (hpacucli)

The hpacucli package allows for online array configuration through the use of a command line interface. The interface is similar to the hpacucli utility provided for other operating systems. For more information, consult the hpacucli-readme.

Releases:

Integrated Lights Out Remote KVM & Remote media (iLO)

The iLO BMC included on most ProLiant DL platforms works just fine with FreeBSD. In addition to providing a robust remote KVM solution, iLO also provide virtual remote media and virtual remote serial port capability. With iLO, remote control power strips and terminal servers can be a thing of the past. For more information, visit the ProLiant Remote Management page.

Known Issues:

Using iLO with CONSERVER:

Here are some sample conserver files that I have used to manage ProLiant servers with iLO. Please note: these were written for version 1.60 of iLO firmware and version 8.1.9 of conserver. They may need to be modified for newer releases.

More up-to-date information on using conserver to log iLO virtual serial ports can be found on the NachoTech blog pages, specifically here. There's also a handy script using nmap that can find all the iLO's on your network.

Online BIOS Flash Utilities

After you gunzip them, these executable .scexe files will flash your ProLiant's BIOS to the indicated revision.

Usage: sh {filename}.scexe [-s [-f] [-r]]

Known Issues:

HP ProLiant BL (Blade) Servers

HP ProLiant DL (Rack) Servers

HP ProLiant ML (Tower) Servers
