I've talked to a few of the regulars about FreeBSD's default
syslog.conf, and their opinion seems to have at least one thing in
common: The present syslog.conf sucks.

Thus, it seems we should change it.  However, syslog.conf is something
that everybody and their grandmother is likely to have an opinion
about.  In order to avoid a long, drawn out discussion about it, I'm
trying a multi-round summarized discussion.  Please send opinions on
what changes you want *with rationale for each change* as replies to
this message.  I'll summarize to the list in a few days, and people
can send in their objections - and I'll summarize them, and we can
repeat until we get to a point where it seems reasonable to take the
rest of the discussion in public.

Remember:
	- Follow the Principle Of Least Astonishment
	- The config should be reasonable for beginners
	- The config should be generally convenient, not just
	  fit your personal preferences.
