The Gnrfan

-- Section 1: You.

1. What is your name, and what epplet did you write?

Antonio Ognio Cesti. I wrote E-Chronometer. I have several epplet ideas
(think many people also have) but now I'm happy I can start to implement
them myself and with the help of other authors.

E-Chronometer is a very simple epplet.. I found it to be an interesting
application of a label, 4 buttons and the show/hide gadget and timer
epplet functions..

2. What do you do for a living, or if you don't work, what do you spend
   most of your time on?

   I plan to be a web enterpreneur and help introduce Linux for businesses
   and small businesses applications. I'm kind of close to start a company
   with a friend of mine we'll be calling PERUSERVER. I live in Peru and
   am in the half of an "Ingenieria de Sistemas" (Less CS more MIS) career
   but will be moving to another university where I plan a Linux invasion :)

   Nowadays I spend my all day trying to find some time to sit in front of
   my computer to learn Linux, learn about E and learn web development stuff
   like PHP and the Z Objects Publishing Enviroment.

   I really wanna earn my living doing what I like most: Linux, and hope it
   will be soon!!

3. What color is your underwear, and does it match your Enlightenment theme
   you're running?

   He, he.. Most my my underwear match the Absolute_E colorscheme... I use it
   a lot but also use Cyrus, Brushmetal and eMac 'cause I bought a package
   with very cheap underwear of all colors and also have tons of black, grey,
   and white ones :)

-- Section 2: Epplets.

1. What gave you the idea to create your epplet?

   Uhm.. I have been trying to figure out cool concepts for epplets for the last
   2 or 3 weeks since I got to know about this great epplet thingies...

   But last day when I sat and started looking and other epplet's code,
   realizing how simple they were and starting to grasp the API from epplets.h
   I realized a chronometer could be very simple to implement so I started
   coding it... :)

2. Did you actually spend time making your epplet?

   You're kidding! Nope, I just had to fill a description box in Red Hat's new
   graphical installer while upgrading my Linux 6.0 box and the great software
   they shipped did it all for me, including the dox documents!!!

   Then I looked at the sources and realized they were written in Visual Basic!
   so I had to spend about 5 hours re-learning C, looking at other epplets code
   and learning the API to port the stuff to C/X/Linux... I guess you don't have
   a Visual Basic tarball installed in your box so perhaps the time was well
   spent!

3. What would be the ultimate epplet to you, and why?

   One I could code and someone gift me with enough money as to buy me all the
   distros, a 17" monitor +dual Pentium III processor+ 40 Gb box with all sorts
   of periphericals and many vmware installations, some PalmPilots, a
   Transmeta's Crusoe powered notebook, a couple of iMacs, and one iBook to run
   Linux PPC with eMac all the time and all Nikki Tyler/Jeanna Jameson porn
   movies.

4. If you could combine any abilities of any epplets written already, and give
   it a pitch, and a real sexy name, what would they be?
   (Please try to remember, this is a family web page! =.P)

   I'll try to remeber... Ok, that would be my own E-Chronometer mixed with
   E-Mount so I can realize if I'm spending too much time in my other hobbie
   which is not Linux... Hey, didn't you know coding elevates your level of
   testosterone? ;)

5. Why epplets, not applets? Do applets just not do it for you? Did mandrake
   and raster hypnotize you, and made you their evil epplet slave?

   First of all you have to be clear E Entertainment television will be
   paying some guys the reorg of Rasterman's site and has sent Mandrake and
   girlfriend tammy.org to a secret vacation in Varadero, Cuba.. that's the
   real reason why this thingies are called Epplets... They even wanted to do
   a tv add with Raster, Mandrake, KainX and other VA Employes dancing dressed
   in all sort of etheme' colorschemes but our friends were to busy and E
   (the cable channel) didn't understand their extra hardware gift request...

   Don't you hang around #E? How didn't you know this?

   I myself i'm happy with epplets since it reinforces the power of the E
   (which we must negate to MS Internet Explorer and those guys behind
    the e-business lotto) and they couldn't be called applets 'coz nobody
   had downloaded them since they don't use the GNOME panel..

   Didn't you know I'm the only Gnome panel user on earth? :)

6. Does your epplet code fit on a normal sized napkin?

   Of course! In this hyperlinked times all I have to write down is the
   url of my epplet's code at my website athttp://gnrfan.htmlplanet.com/

7. As we all know (or maybe not), raster has a very bald head. What epplet
   would you code on his head with a marker?

   #include "epplets.h"
   int main(int argc, char **argv)
   { Epplet_Init("E-BaldPower", "1.0","Bald head rocks!",4,1, argc, argv, 0);
     Epplet_run_command("netscape http://www.baldpower.org/");
     Epplet_show();
     Epplet_Loop();
     return 0; }

   I'm sure his head is big enough as to fit this 7 lines..

   As you can see it should compile! ;)

MY CLOSING WORDS:

Thanks to Demonishi for his interviewing efforts!!! If interviews
are published or linked in e.t.o we'll have readers...

I got an interview site at http://enterviews.8m.com/

Hallvar Helleseth e-nterview is there and Jon Rista's will be
there very soon!

Bye. Antonio.
