I'm 2nd year, 20 year old student of computer science at Technical University of Czestochowa. My major interests range from low level programming (device driver and OS kernel: both C and assembler on x86/MIPS architectures) to digital design (Verilog synthesis in Verilog). I attend monolithic model of education (last year of old Polish education system) which means I'll gather both B.Sc and M.Sc after 3 years from now on. I would like to try to incorporate AVR32 in my studies. Proposal of my project is very short: port FreeBSD to AVR32. This is a lot of work, which is why I decided to acquire to ATMEL's university program. I don't apply as a researcher/Ph.D because I know such a project requires at least 2-3 hours of work in a daily basis for... several months. Thus, I'd like to have ATMEL's hardware kept at home, where I can work on the programming tasks. Provided phone number are the same--I've given phone number of my departament secretary, but this request is sent by me to ATMEL privately, without secretary's knowledge. -- I do have an expirience in this topic. I'm FreeBSD system developer since 2 years. I helped to bring MIPS support to the FreeBSD source tree in the early stages of development. I had Ampro Encore M2 board donated by MIPS Technologies back then. This project is hard, but real to complete. I'm furtunate enough to have a possibility to work in close relationship with people who did previous FreeBSD porting work on other architectures, as well as customizing U-boot and other parts of that level of software layer. What ATMEL could do for me is either board or at least cable donation. I can't afford both myself. Ideal case: AVR JTAGICE mkII cable and ATSTK1000 board donation Such a donation would let me start thinking about FreeBSD/AVR32 development very seriously. Good case AVR JTAGICE mkII donation In good case, I'd try to acquire ATNGW100 Network Gateway Kit for development, as it's the only platform I could eventually afford. "Ideal case" will be very appreciated. I looked for "Distributors" within Poland with this page: http://www.atmel.com/contacts/ Company which is closest to me: JM ELEKTRONIK Ul.
