FreeBSD/ia64 Project news

Well, in theory updates will go here. For now though there are a couple of things to look at:

• Itanium2 boot log
• an ACPI2.0 dump from the above system (ouch!)
• Uncommitted changes between the cvs tree and ia64 p4 branch. These may or may not be intended for commit.

We do run [mostly] reliably on Itanium1 systems already. In parciular, Intel's IA64 SDV machines and I've also run on a Dell Precision 730. I have not seen a HP or Compaq system.

Some urgent things to do:

• Exterminate the contigmalloc for kernel stacks with extreme prejudice.
• Figure out a way to install a system without doing stuff by hand.
• Optimize!
• lots and lots more.

I will create and upload some installable images soon. I have a (fairly old now) bootable CDROM image that will boot and run in multiuser with root on the CD. I am planning to refresh that and upload it as well.
