HISTORY: I've been using computers for almost as long as I can remember. My first UNIX account was on SunOS system, and since that time I've never forgotten how truly fantastic BSD is. I've been a committer for almost a year. For the last 8 months or so I've been working on FreeBSD's standards conformance [*] (specifically POSIX.1-2001 and C99). I've assembled a small group of exceptional individuals to help progress the project. We are making some significant advances. I don't think it will be too much longer (another year or two), before we're ready to start raising money for UNIX certification. :) FREE TIME: I have a significant amount of free time that I can and do devote to FreeBSD. I intentionally work very short days (3-4 hours on average) so that I can spend time on one of my main interests, FreeBSD. OBJECTIVES FOR CORE: I think where the current Core Team has been most successful, has been with setting up small groups of people to oversee specific tasks, such as the release engineering and security officer groups. I'd like to see this trend continue as much as possible. For example, I can forsee an architectural review board to settle technical disputes when a consensus can't be reached through the normal channels. My other main objective, should I be elected to Core, is to reduce red tape and streamline Core operations. I think this is best achieved through a cooperative spirit and non-contrarian agenda. In particular, I don't feel it's appropriate to nitpick everything to death. That type of behaviour just isn't conducive to a health project. To conclude, if you are looking for a team player who's pretty easy to get along with and has FreeBSD's interests at heart, I'm your candidate. [*] http://www.FreeBSD.org/projects/c99/
