Description

This a native implementation of SMB/CIFS requester and filesystem for FreeBSD. SMB requester is independent from filesystem layer and can be used separately. There are also few service utilities.

Supported versions of FreeBSD: 3.4-stable (cvsup after 5 Feb 2000), 4.x-stable and 5.0-current.

Filesystem is known to work with the following SMB servers:

• Samba
• Windows 95/98
• Windows NT 4.0 Server (SPs 4, 5 and 6)
• Windows NT 4.0 WS
• Windows 2000

Where to get

Latest version of smbfs is 1.4.1. It can be downloaded from http://people.freebsd.org/~bp/pub/smbfs/smbfs-1.4.1.tar.gz
There is several known bugs in this release, but my spare time is limited now and date of the next release is not determined yet.
